Encouraging Bible Verses
Children are a gift from God, a unique blessing He alone can give.
Psalm 127:3, “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
Children are a blessing, not a burden. We need to be reminded of this during the difficult days of parenting. God gave you the children He wanted you to have. You are the mom He ordained to rear your children for His glory, and it’s a privilege only you can know.
Stop scrambling and rest in the sovereignty of your heavenly Father.
Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
When you find yourself worrying, be still. Stop striving, stop panicking, stop trying to fix everything yourself. Acknowledge God for who He is, and trust Him. He is in control, and He will work things out in His own perfect way and timing.
God gives strength to those who are weak, fainting, and struggling. He renews the strength of those who wait on Him.
Isaiah 40:29, 31, “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Motherhood is physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally exhausting. God is all the strength we need to overcome weariness. When we ask Him for strength, He will give it to us.
If you need wisdom in parenting, ask God. He won’t scold or chide you but will give you the wisdom you need right when you need it.
James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Have you thought to yourself, “I have no idea what to do with this kid”? Do you sometimes feel perplexed about how to handle an issue, family-related or otherwise? How often do you feel uncertain about the best decision to make? Our all-knowing, all-wise heavenly Father wants us to ask Him for the wisdom we need. He alone is our source of wisdom, and He promises to give it to us. I can personally testify that every time I have prayed to God for wisdom in a situation, He has always given it to me.
Don’t lose heart in doing good. In time, you will receive reward, so do not grow weary.
Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Don’t give up in doing what’s right; don’t give in to the temptation to quit. As a hardworking farmer will reap a harvest, so we will reap both earthly and heavenly rewards from God for faithful obedience.
A charming personality and outward beauty are fleeting and empty. A woman who reveres the Lord will be praised by Him and respected by others.
Proverbs 31:30, “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”
In a culture that overemphasizes outward beauty and charm, it’s tempting for Christian mothers to make appearance a top priority. But beauty and charm won’t earn true, permanent favor. God values and admires a woman who fears and worships Him above all else. If you fear the Lord and obey Him, He will honor you, even if no one in the world does.
A wise woman invests in her home, but a foolish woman tears hers down.
Proverbs 14:1, “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”
As wives and mothers, we should build our homes and families to the glory of God. Every day we either build up or tear down our families with our words, attitudes, and actions. Seek God’s help to build and not damage your home and family.
Whatever you do, do it with all your heart for the Lord and not for anyone else.
Colossians 3:23–24, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
This verse is a great antidote for a complaining, critical spirit. When we work hard and do our tasks for God alone, we will know true joy. We have the approval of our Savior and the promise of our eternal inheritance.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed, flee to your Rock.
Psalm 61:2, “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
When you feel like you’re barely able to keep your head above water, call on God. He is our unmoving, steadfast, everlasting Rock. The word for ‘rock’ in this verse refers to a massive boulder, so huge and solid that it’s impossible to move. God is the Rock we can cling to when the pressures and problems of life threaten to drown us.
I can do everything God has called me to do by His power and might.
Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
We can fulfill the purposes God has for us because God can give us the strength we need to be content with whatever we face. He can empower us to be faithful and joyful mothers which He has called us to be.
Rejoice in the Lord always.
Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”
We are to rejoice in God always, whether we feel like it or not. Why? Because we have so much to rejoice about! Meditating on all the blessings of salvation gives us more than enough reason. When we choose to rejoice instead of complain, God gets the glory. Joy is an inner contentment and peace based on our relationship with God. Even when times are difficult, we can have joy because we have Christ.
Give all your worries, troubles, and concerns to God, because He cares deeply about you.
1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Mom, are you full of discouragement and anxiety? God wants you to cast them—throw them like a blanket—upon Him, and leave them there. Do you know how much God cares about you? He cares about your cares even more than you do! We have a tenderhearted, compassionate, merciful heavenly Father who wants us to pour out our hearts to Him.
Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Trust that God will meet your needs.
Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
This verse commands us not to worry or be anxious about anything—anything! When we worry, we are not trusting God. Anxiety won’t change a thing about our circumstances, we need to pray specific, earnest, and diligent prayers.
When you choose prayer over worry, God promises to give you His peace. His peace transcends our understanding and guards our hearts.
Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
When we pray instead of worry, God will give us peace. His peace protects our minds and hearts, reassuring us. This kind of peace can’t be explained. It is a gift reserved for God’s children.
