I’m always looking for great ways to get the kids up and about while learning. Recently I came across a blogpost on Third Grade Galore about how to do an area scavenger hunt.
I had the students take photos of square or rectangle shapes in the classroom using the iPads®. Next, they imported the photos into the Educreations app. After drawing a grid to show the area of the shape, they were able to calculate the area. Finally, they labelled the photo with the area.
I think they really enjoyed doing this activity. Anytime the students can get up and move around, it’s a fun time.
What do you do to get your students up and about?
